Focuses on enhancing infrastructure and municipal governance in key Somali cities.

Somalia Urban Resilience Project (SURP II)

Nagaad Project (Somalia Urban Resilience Project Phase II) is a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the resilience of Somali cities by improving urban infrastructure and strengthening institutional capacity. It builds on the achievements of the first phase (SURP I) and focuses on addressing the challenges posed by rapid urbanization, weak municipal governance, and vulnerability to climate and conflict-related shocks.

SURP II is being implemented in several cities, including Mogadishu, Garowe, Kismayo, Baidoa, and Beledweyne. Each city benefits from tailored infrastructure development based on its specific needs, contributing to overall urban growth and resilience. The project not only aims at building physical infrastructure but also at strengthening institutions for better urban management, fostering economic growth, and supporting social cohesion.
