Kismayo’s urban road network improvements aim to enhance connectivity within the city and to nearby regions. The upgrades will support smoother traffic flow and more reliable access to economic centers, markets, and health facilities. These developments are also key for trade, given Kismayo’s role as a trade gateway to and from Somalia.
Seasonal rains have often resulted in disruptive floods that endanger lives and affect businesses. The drainage infrastructure in Kismayo will involve creating stormwater management systems designed to handle heavy rainfall, mitigating flood risks in densely populated areas and helping prevent the contamination of water resources.
With a large population of internally displaced persons (IDPs), Kismayo has high demands for secure shelter options. The project will provide safer housing solutions, reinforcing structures to withstand the climate conditions, and creating a foundation for community stability. This work is essential in providing long-term resilience for those most affected by displacement and environmental challenges.
